When it comes to Mother’s Day or Father’s Day, the whole family often takes the time to gather and spend the special day to celebrate Mom and Dad. Some families have luncheons and give gifts to show their appreciation for Mom, and some hold barbecue parties and go on fishing trips to spend time with Dad. But when it comes to Grandparents’ Day, do we also have spectacular activities lined up from Grandma and Grandpa?

 

This Sunday, September 11, is National Grandparents’ Day, and ALTCP.org has put together a list of activities we can do with our family members to show our grandparents how much we love and appreciate them.

 

First-Time Florida Bike-a-Thon Champions Seniors

To show their love and support to their grandparents and the elderly community, individuals in Miami will be participating in a bike-a-thon designed to raise awareness for senior citizens. Karen Schwartz, through Chabad.org, shares that this activity aims to bring different generations together as 60 to 100 bikers are expected to take part in the event.

Fun activities at a library—sounds like every bibliophile’s heaven, doesn’t it? Lafourche Parish Library branches are hosting various activities as a way to take part in the celebration of National Grandparents Day.

We can all certainly take a page from Holmstad Town Center’s book when it comes to celebrations. As reported in the Chicago Tribune, the place will transform into the Wild West in celebration of Grandparents Day. The event will feature performances, petting zoos, and a Western cookout. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?

 

How to celebrate Grandparent’s Day when you’re getting ready to adopt

Besides the new parents, the grandparents are the most excited at the thought of adding a new member to the family. As we all show our appreciation for grandparents this Sunday, Nicole Witt of SheKnows shares ways in which children can involve their parents in the excitement brought about by adoption.

 

Time is the best gift that we can give our elderly loved ones. Our schedules may be packed, and work may be draining, but spend the day with them to let them know how much you value and appreciate all that they are and all that they do.
